BÖVI microbiological preparation is used as a plant conditioner, designed to nourish and support healthy plant development. It reduces the habitat of soil-dwelling pests (larvae, mealybugs, nematodes and wireworms) and regulates their reproduction.
BÖVI microbiological preparation contains spores and conidia of two insect entomopathogenic hyper parasitic fungal strains of Beauveria bassiana, which, after their multiplying in the soil, significantly reduce the habitat and reproduction of soil pests, and thus their damage they cause. Thanks to the above-mentioned effect, the root systems of plants can develop and grow undisturbed. It is recommended for soil treatment before planting field crops and garden crops, vegetables, vineyards and orchards, before sowing or laying lawns. In addition to pre-sowing application, it is also recommended to use the preparation for preventive maintenance of soil treatment.
After the reproduction of the entomopathogenic fungus, soil treated with BÖVI microbiological preparation creates a protective layer in the cultivated soil profile, especially in the sowing depth. Pests of agricultural crops, which emerge from the soil in spring and move back into the soil in autumn, become infected when penetrating through the protective layer and their mobility conditions in their habitat are significantly more difficult. In both cases, the solution to prevent soil infestation by pests is to treat the soil layer at the sowing depth. Our experience from experiments with field and garden crops on arable land shows that BÖVI preparation significantly reduces the number of larvae, mealybugs and wireworms and at the same time it regulates their reproduction. The preparation is supplied at a concentration of 1.1011 CFU/ml.
Biological pest prevention can be effectively carried out using BÖVI microbiological preparation. Warmer climatic conditions in recent years have led to a higher pest infection pressure, especially in crops with higher input costs. It is strongly recommended to use BÖVI preparation as a preventive protection against damage.
Mechanism of action
The microorganisms in BÖVI preparation infect most soil pests on contact. The infection is ensured by a perfect combination of two entomopathogenic fungus strains of Beauveria bassiana:
– The spores of one strain penetrate the respiratory and/or oral cavity of the pest causing destruction of hyphal accumulation and infection in the digestive tract and circulatory system. It also destroys the production of enzymes and toxins that break down the body tissues at the cellular level.
– The spores of the other strain germinate on the outer shell of the pest and subsequently penetrate the host body, where the final infection occurs, causing the death of the insect.
The entire body of the dead pest overgrows, and it is completely covered with the mycelium of the hyper parasitic fungus Beauveria bassiana, which decomposes it. The spores remain viable in this environment for a long time, making them still infectious to the pests.
